Police seek help searching for missing hiker at Elfin Lake

Staff report
July 10, 2021 3:19pm

Squamish RCMP and Squamish SAR are seeking the public’s help in finding a missing hiker at Elfin Lake.

On July 9, Squamish RCMP received a report of an overdue hiker who had been dropped off at the Elfin Lakes trailhead in Garibaldi Provincial Park a few days prior.

The hiker, Daniel Ring, left on July 7 with a plan to camp at Rampart Ponds for a few days but failed to return to his pick up site two days later.

Squamish Search and Rescue were activated and have been searching in the area all day.

Those in Garibaldi Provincial Park or heading there are asked to keep a look out for Daniel.

He is described as :

Caucasian man, 33 years old

5’11”, 165 lbs, medium build

short grey hair

wearing Grey t-shirt, black shorts, camouflage vest

camouflage coloured backpack

Daniel had enough supplies for a few days but nothing beyond that.

“The Rampart Pond area has been searched extensively by Squamish SAR with no sign of Daniel” stated Sergeant Sascha Banks.

“This is a highly travelled area during this time of year and we are asking anyone who has seen Daniel or any of his effects to contact Police so we can ensure his wellbeing.”

If you have any information please contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100.
