Landfill operations resume after brush fire

staff report
July 16, 2021 10:02am

Landfill operations have resumed after a brush fire was extinguished by Squamish Fire Rescue.

There were no injuries in this incident.

At approximately 12:10 pm on Thursday, July 15, Squamish Fire Rescue responded to small grass fire at the Squamish Landfill.

The fire was extinguished and all landfill operations have resumed with access to the public depot and recycling, said Rachel Boguski, media relations with the District of Squamish.

Commercial Landfill access resumes today.

“This is yet another critical reminder of just how quickly a single spark can spread. If you see or suspect an open fire or illegal campfire, call 911 immediately. To report a wildfire call *5555 from a mobile device.”
