Half-hectare wildfire burns near Woodfibre site

BC Wildfire Services is working to extinguish a new fire above the Woodfibre LNG site.

Mill Creek fire is approximately half a hectare in size.

One fire officer, six crew people and two helicopters are responding to the fire.

It is considered out of control.

“Our crews have just started working on this. They are bucketing on the fire, they are confirming jurisdiction and are in communication with Squamish Fire Department, said Marg Dryseall, fire information officer.

There is no threat to any structures at this time.
