Police issue $1,725 ticket for campfire near Cat Lake

Squamish RCMP issued a $1,725 violation ticket after investigating a complaint of campfire near Cat Lake.

On July 24, police investigated a fire near Cat Lake after campers left hot coals in a propane fire unattended.

Police issued a violation ticket to the person responsible for $1725 under the Wildfire Act.

On July 20, 2021, Squamish RCMP also received a report of a fire south of Squamish.

Investigators worked with the Squamish Lillooet Regional District and confirmed the fire was low risk and posed no threat to people or structures.

Two crews and two helicopters worked to extinguish the blaze.
