Several charged for accessing Cat Lake Recreation Site

Staff report
August 4, 2021 9:35am

Conservation Officers have charged several people who tried to access the Cat Lake Rec Site this weekend, despite the fact that it was closed.

The site was shut down after a bear got into a camper’s tent. Unsecure food and garbage was everywhere.

According to the COS, the Cat Lake Recreation Site has been closed indefinitely due to the presence of an aggressive bear.

This bear is actively seeking food from campers and entering tents to acquire it.

“Remember to use bear aware camping practices. Always secure your food and garbage, and never keep food in your tent, cautions COS

“Remember to secure all attractants and respect closures – they are in place for your own safety.”
