Applications invited for first Squamish youth council

District of Squamish is inviting applications for the first ever Squamish youth council.

As many as 15 youth between the ages of 14 and 24 in the community will be part of the Squamish Youth Council.

The youth council will amplify the voice of local youth in matters that directly impact them, and will enable a series of youth-led projects that directly support the Squamish Youth Strategy.

The council will also help plant the seeds of civic engagement mindset and skillset in Squamish youth, and create a legacy that gives local youth a seat at the decision-making table.

An application is available at the District of Squamish website, and it can be either completed online or printed and completed by hand.

Printed forms can be scanned and sent to youthcouncil@squamish.ca.

The applications can be sent to youthcouncil@squamish.ca by September 13, 2021.

    Great idea IF they have a voice that gets heard.

    How about a SENIORS Council too. They are 110% ignored by Staff AND Council.

      Good point!
      You can put them in training and mold them or they will be strong and stand for teir own ideology…but for us you know they can’t teach any new tricks.
