On two occasions this past week, Squamish responded to reports of campfires and a backyard fire that violated the current provincial fire ban.
Some people burning brush in their backyard were issued a provincial violation ticket under the Wildfire Act by Squamish RCMP.
With some exception, open burning including Campfires, Category 2 and 3 remains prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre area in BC.
This includes the use of fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels and burn cages. Restrictions will remain in place until October 15, 2021, or until the order is rescinded.
