Staff report
October 24, 2021 9:44am

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning in effect for Howe Sound.

Strong northerly winds 70 km/h and gusting 90 km/h can be expected tonight.

The location for the warning is Squamish, Gambier, Keats, and Bowen Islands

The winds will continue overnight tonight through to late this morning.

A rapidly deepening area of low pressure is approaching Vancouver Island overnight.

As this system nears the south coast, strong outflow winds are picking up and will peak this morning. Winds are expected to ease somewhat by later this morning.

High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
