Flood damage shuts down Mamquam Road

Staff report
November 16, 2021 7:25pm

District of Squamish has closed the gravel portion of Mamquam Road due to danger to the public.

District has also installed barricades and placed ‘Do Not Enter’ on the gravel portion of Mamquam Road, east of Paco Road.

The road was closed due to fractures discovered along a 400-metre section of the road following heavy rain.

There has also been a substantial landslide near the bottom, which has blocked the road completely.

District says there is significant public safety risk as the slope is unpredictable and unstable and could fail.

The road is already closed to vehicles, and district cautions that no one should travel this road on foot or by bike.

The district is exploring next steps and will provide further updates when available.
