A friend of a local man involved in a serious accident on Highway 99 has started a GoFundMe page. Adam Haubrich sustained serious injuries while travelling home from Whistler to Squamish on December 9.

“Adam sustained serious, life threatening injuries which include multiple skull fractures, a brain bleed, all of his facial bones were broken (shattered jaw, nose and orbital bones), a blown ear drum, 8 fractured ribs, a fractured sternum, three spinal fractures and a compound fracture of his femur,” says Jessica Morden, who started the fundraiser.

Adam has undergone surgery to fix his femur and has also had facial reconstruction surgery with 10 metal plates in his face.

He will be in the hospital for a very, very long time, Morden says.

Adam and his fiancé, Cassie Kenwell, were set to be married in March in Mexico and though friends are hopeful for his recovery, it is possible the marriage may have to be rescheduled.

“Adam has a very long journey ahead of him and needs all the support he can get. Any contribution will help to relieve the immense pressure an accident like this places on a family,” Jessica says.
