People asked to not wait on Government Road to access COVID test site

Staff report
December 21, 2021 11:06am

Sea to Sky Family Division Services is requesting the public’s assistance after the local COVID-19 testing site on Government Road experienced unprecedented volume.

“For the safety of the community and everyone trying to assist you, we ask you to NOT sit on Government Road waiting to access the site,” the services said.

“It’s not safe for you, it’s not safe for us, and it’s not safe for others who simply wish to pass by the site to get home.”

The site will be open 9 am to 4 pm today. Locals are asked to space out the trip to the site if possible. Please wait until 11 or 12 if you can to go to the site.

If you drive up, and traffic is already out to the street, return home, self isolate, and then come back in an hour. A plan is being actively developed to reduce wait times and increase access to testing.

“Please help us help keep Squamish safe by keeping the swabbing traffic off the road,” the services says.
