A GoFundMe page has been started by two community members to support those affected by the Tantalus Mall fire.
“Our community would like to take care of the people affected,” say Jennie Hayes and Sylvia Hunter, who started the fundraiser.
“There is a small group of us in touch with some of the tenants in the apartments and family members of those affected. While donations are coming in we are gathering their information and reaching out. They will all need help starting over.”
Hayes and Hunter said they have been in touch with residents and family members, who are appreciative of the community’s donations. Reverend Cameron and the Redcross will ensure donations are evenly distributed to the people affected by the fire.
Meanwhile, the District of Squamish says it has no confirmed details about the occupants, the location or the origin of fire at this point. However, all occupants have been displaced and Emergency Social Services has been contacted, District says.
