The GoFundMe to support the Wigan Pier restaurant has raised over $10,000 so far. The fundraiser is being organised on behalf of the owner Greg Venables.

The Wigan Pier will have to find a new home, notes the fundraiser. The restaurant was destroyed in a significant fire on February 21. The GoFudMe aims to raise $25,000.

“The outpouring of messages of support from the community and beyond has been overwhelming. We are hoping that we can raise enough so that we can continue to operate in the Squamish community that we have called home for so long. We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to try to generate much needed funds to get us back on our feet and starting again in a new location.”

The GoFundMe is urging the community to help support the re-establishment of The Wigan Pier in a new location.

“The Wigan Pier hopes to make the best fish and chips in Squamish again and to continue pouring the most delicious pints of Guinness.”
