staff report
March 9, 2022 10:49am

A wrong-way impaired driver’s vehicle was seized by Squamish RCMP after the driver was reported to the police by a Miller Capilano employee.

On March 6, Squamish RCMP received a report from a Miller Capilano employee about a northbound vehicle that started coming into the southbound lane on Highway 99.

The employee managed to avoid a collision with the vehicle and saw the vehicle driving off the road and into a ditch.  The employee turned around to make sure the occupants of the vehicle were safe but found the driver with a bottle of liquor.

Police was called, the vehicle was seized for 30 days, and the driver has been prohibited from driving for 90 days.

On March 5, Squamish RCMP were informed by a citizen about a possible drunk driver going northbound on Highway 99 at Furry Creek.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving after he failed two breath tests. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days and the driver was suspended for driving for 90 days.
