Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services has confirmed that a second body has been found during the demolition of the Winters Hotel at 203 Abbott St.
Today around 2 pm, the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services had confirmed they had found a body during the demolition of the Winters Hotel at 203 Abbott St.
The Winters Hotel at 203 Abbott St was raved in a fire on April 21 and building was deemed structurally unsound and ordered demolished by the City’s Chief Building Official.
Demolition began on April 21, 2022. As with the first instance, the investigation has been referred by VFRS to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) who engaged the BC Coroners Service.
The Coroner is on route to the scene.
Through the process, investigators and the demolition crew have been mindful that people may be in the building, and have been proceeding with appropriate precaution and care.
Building demolition has paused for the weekend and will resume on Monday, while security fencing and security staff will remain in place throughout the weekend.
