The District of Squamish has designated Squamish Days as an event of municipal significance.
At a June 21 meeting, District of Squamish provided a letter of support to the Squamish Day Loggers Sports Association designating Squamish Days as an event of municipal significance.
The District has also proclaimed July 28 to 31 as the Squamish Days Loggers Sports Weekend. In a letter detailing the proclamation, Jacqulin McNicol, the President of Squamish Days Loggers Sports Association, said the association is honoured to be celebrating the 65th Anniversary of the Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival, July 28th to July 31st.
“Our festival got its start as a one‐day Loggers Sports Competition in 1957 and has become a community festival that has something for everyone and draws huge crowds to Squamish over the BC Day Long weekend,” she wrote. “These competitions are an opportunity to look into the past and experience a piece of British Columbia’s history while being entertained and amazed by the skill of the competitors.”
Last year, the Squamish Days Loggers Sports Association raised $15,000 for local organizations and over the last 64 years has donated approximately $635,000 to local non‐profits. Rebecca Bolkowy, the show secretary, said the Loggers Days also returns back to a full-schedule of events as it celebrates 65 years in the community.
“This year is a big milestone for us, we are going back to our full schedule and will include as many community groups and community members as possible and spread the history and background to those who have just moved here,” she said. Bolkowy is also urging people to buy tickets online, which are on sale now. The association is also looking for volunteers for different events, and those interested can fill out this form online or email at
Meanwhile, the competitor entry forms are also available online now for those who want to compete.
