Cat Lake recreation site reopens to public

Staff report
July 6, 2022 2:35pm

The Cat Lake recreation sites and lake have now reopened after being closed for over two weeks because of the presence of a bear in the area. No reservations  are need as this is a first come, first served site. There are walk-in campsites all around the lake.

However, BC Parks cautions that this site has had numerous bear problems each year. “Be prepared to keep coolers in vehicle or food in caches on-site, do not leave food or garbage unattended for any length of time. Be respectful and keep your site clean,” says BC Parks.

Camping fee is $18 per site, and six persons are allowed per site. There is usually firewood for sale. This lake is very popular for swimming, and people are advised to come early on Fridays to ensure you get a site on long weekends.
