The wildfire fire near Lytton has grown to 75 hectares and is now a Wildfire of Note, according to an update by BC Wildfire.
The BC Wildfire Service continues to respond to the Nohomin Creek wildfire, roughly 2 kilometres from Lytton. Lytton First Nation has implemented an Evacuation Alert and Evacuation Order for some area.
This incident is classified as Out of Control, and heavy smoke, accessibility and terrain are presenting challenges for fire personnel. At this time, the cause of this incident is unknown and under investigation. As many as 32 firefighters and two helicopters are deployed.
Three 4-person initial attack crews and a 20-person unit crew are responding with support of two helicopters and air tankers. RCMP officers are also on site. As of now, there are no impacts to Highway 1 or Highway 12, though the Lytton Ferry is closed in both directions.
