Heat record broken in Squamish as sunny fall continues

A sunny fall is making up for the unusually rainy spring as the streak of warm weather continues.

According to a weather summary released by Environment Canada, Squamish set a daily maximum temperature record yesterday.

The new record for warm weather is 27.2 C, which beats out the old record of 23.7 C, which was set in 2015. Records in this area have been kept since 1960.

The maximum temperature during this time of the year is usually 13 C, and the minimum is temperature is 5 C. The sunny streak is expected to continue this week as well.

New weather records were also set in Pemberton Area. A preliminary new record of 27.5 C was set in Pemberton, beating the old record of  27 C set in 1993. New heat records were also set in Sechelt and Powell River, as well as in Pitt Meadows, Hope, and Kelowna.
