Drunk pick-up driver on Highway 99 arrested after police chase

Staff report
October 7, 2022 10:38am

On September 30, Squamish RCMP responded to multiple calls about an F-150 pickup truck travelling erratically on Highway 99.

The truck driver was unable to maintain the lane and appeared to be over correcting, said Squamish RCMP. Officers set up a road block on Highway 99 and found the vehicle crossing over the centre line. Officers were able to stop the vehicle but the driver sped off into a forest service road when officers tried to do a breath test.

Police officers located the driver walking away from his vehicle and arrested him for impaired operation, flight from police and dangerous driving.

The man’s breath samples were over four times the legal driving limit for alcohol. Police impounded the vehicle and released the driver once he was sober. He will be appearing in court shortly.
