District of Squamish crews will be removing dangerous trees along Government Road near Olson Road.
Work will be underway on Thursday, Oct 20 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to remove trees along Government Road near Olson Road.
The southbound lane will be closed for up to 5 – 10-minute intervals. Traffic control will be on-site. Drivers are being asked to obey all signage and use caution in the area. Watermain flushing has also begun in the Garibaldi Estates, Garibaldi Highlands and Brackendale neighbourhoods. This is being done to remove stagnant water and unwanted buildup within the pipes.
There will be no interruptions to water however during flushing, there may be brief periods when the water becomes cloudy, discoloured or have a mild chlorine taste, however the water remains safe to drink.
If you experience either of these, District asks locals to flush their taps by running the water until it becomes clear. Pooling of water in certain areas may also occur. The local watermain system is flushed each fall to maintain water quality and maximize hydraulic capacity.
