Squamish RCMP are seeking public’s help in identifying man involved with mischief at local detachment.

On November 4, at about 3:45 am, officers and other employees working inside the local detachment at 1000 Finch Dr. heard a series of banging noises coming from outside the lobby area.

Officer noticed a man using some kind of pole to hit the front fascia of the detachment, and then running off towards Industrial Way and Progress Way. Officers pursued him and warned that he was under arrest, but he kept running and officers lost sight of him.

Extensive patrols were conducted but he couldn’t be found. He is described as a Caucasian man, heavy set build, about 5’7” to 5’9” and was wearing a grey hoodie and dark colored pants.

“This was as unusual as it was alarming,” says Corporal Angela Kermer of the Sea to Sky RCMP. “This man was pretty direct with his nonverbal communications, but clearly, he didn’t want to speak with us and choose to run away instead.  In the big scale of things, no one was hurt and damage minimal, we encourage him to connect with us if he needs police services.”

The man did no visible damage to the detachment’s property. Anyone with any information regarding the above file is asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
