Cyclist injured in collision with car in business park

Staff report
November 18, 2022 6:14am

Squamish RCMP are investigating a collision between car and bike in the business park.

On November 10, just after 8 am, a cyclist traveling the wrong way on a one-way street collided with a vehicle that was turning east in the 39200 block of Discovery Way.

The cyclist received minor injuries, was taken to the local hospital by BC Ambulance Service. The front tire of the bike was damaged. The car driver remained uninjured, though the car fender was damaged in the collision.

Break and enter

On November 13, police investigated a report of a break, enter, and theft into a garage in the 39700 block of Government Road. Thieves stole three bikes valued at $9,000. This theft may be targeted given no other items were reported stolen from the garage, and police continue following up on this matter.

Excessive speed

On November 13, an officer doing speed enforcement on Highway 99 saw a pickup truck traveling at 144 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. The officer issued the driver a violation ticket for excessive speed and impounded the truck for seven days under the Motor Vehicle Act.
