17-year-old charged after loaded guns found in Vancouver rooming house

November 23, 2022 11:35am

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after Vancouver Police discovered a cache of loaded guns and other dangerous weapons inside a Downtown Eastside rooming house Saturday.

Officers working in the Downtown Eastside responded to a report Saturday that someone had unlawfully entered a room inside the Grand Union, a rooming house near Abbott and West Hastings streets. When officers arrived, they were confronted by a teenager holding a loaded gun.

The teen was immediately arrested by Vancouver Police, who discovered five additional guns, including a loaded 357 Magnum and two loaded revolvers.

Officers also seized body armour, machetes, ammunition, fake guns, and a variety of controlled drugs. The teen has been charged with possession of a firearm. The investigation is ongoing.
