35 floats will take part in Downtown Squamish holiday parade this Saturday

Staff report
November 29, 2022 5:23am

As many as 35 floats have signed up for the Christmas parade being organised by the Downtown Squamish BIA. The parade will take place at 5 pm on December 3, Saturday.

“All community members are invited to join the parade to celebrate whatever you celebrate over the winter; Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Yule, Kwanzaa, or just your fabulous self,” says Kerry Neil, the executive director of Downtown Squamish BIA. “Whatever your celebration, join the parade on December 3 in Downtown Squamish for our fun and inclusive parade.

Neil said Race & Co. has donated $500 to sponsor the ‘Best Float’ competition, which will be judged at 4:30 pm.  The parade will follow a route from Third Avenue, along Pemberton, then travel up Cleveland to Main Street, though those who plan to attend should note that the parade will cause some disruptions.

Road closures will be in effect downtown from 4 pm to approx. 7 pm on Saturday. Those planning to come should get downtown early and take transit. Kerry Neil is also encouraging people to stay downtown after the parade and enjoy the many amazing places to eat and drink. Some downtown stores will also stay open late. The Downtown Squamish BIA is also grateful to the following for making this event possible.
