BC’s first mountain bike festival for women is coming to Squamish this May. RIDELAB will be held from May 15 to 18 in the community.

“We are very excited to bring the first all-women’s mountain bike festival to Squamish, with everything the area has to offer we are going to blow people’s mind,” said Karen Stark, the festival’s creator. “The positive feedback from the industry, the community and the people registering is confirming that an event like this was very much needed.”

As many 120 women have registered for the festival, and 30 more spots are left to fill.

Stark said the registrations for the festival has been open since September last year. “We have a lot of really talented entertainers, special guests, VIP riders, experienced skilled experts joining us for the event that will all add to the overall experience on and off the bike.”

Stark said the adventure capital of Canada is one of the most idyllic places in the world to ride mountain bikes.

“The riding in Squamish is unbelievable, the assets and resources available, the businesses and community are all stoked to have us and that’s important for our success.  Mountsin Fun Basecamp campground is a phenomenal place to stay and has great access to the trails. All in all it was a no-brainer, Squamish was the place to be.,” she said.

The three-day event promises ample opportunities to develop new skills and to learn from some of the best PMBIA certified guides. Bike demos, tech talks, outdoor music and movies are also planned. Local sponsors include SORCA and Tourism Squamish, Stark Architecture, Indigenous Women of the Outdoors, and Day time Cycling.
