District of Squamish has scheduled a public hearing for 35-unit townhome proposal at 1005 and 1009 Raven Drive. The public hearing will be held on January 24 at 6 pm in the council chamber and can also be joined virtually.

The application for the townhomes at 1005 and 1009 Raven Drive seeks to rezone the property from Rural Residential 1 to Comprehensive Development Zone.  The properties, 1005 and 1009 Raven Drive, are located in the Rural and Low Density Multifamily land use designation of the Loggers East Neighbourhood Plan, which was adopted by the Council last year.

The 1.32 hectares land is located on Raven Drive, immediately south of the intersection of Cardinal Drive and Raven Drive and west of the single-unit dwellings on Kingfisher Road. The properties are currently vacant.

Two of the townhouse units will be secured as affordable rental housing, and the developer is proposing a 3-metre wide public trail from Raven Drive to southern property line.  The developer is committing that no natural gas will be provided to any of the units in the development, and all units will be built to a Carbon Neutral Standard.

The developer is also offering $890,410 for critical amenities and $75,000 for playground equipment in the community park area.
