The Squamish Public Library is looking into expanding its Library of Things and wants the community’s input on this new initiative.
A Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional library items available for the community to borrow for free. These items might be rarely used, hard to store, or expensive, such as tools, cooking appliances and hobby items. The library wants this collection to be useful to a wider audience, reduce community-wide waste and consumption, and contribute to social inclusion, accessibility, and affordability.
The community’s input will help guide the development of this collection. Even now, the library offers some non-traditional items such as video game consoles, board games, museum passes, and bat detectors.
The survey will take around five minutes to complete and would guide the library on the type of traditional items that citizens would like to borrow from the library. These could possibly include items ranging from arts and crafts to cooking and baking.
