The proponents of a mixed-use development are inviting the community to a public information meeting about the proposed development called Uptown, which will be located at 40480 Tantalus Road.

The public information meeting will take place on April 19, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Sea to Sky Hotel. A formal presentation begins at 7:30 pm.

“The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community with the most recent information on the rezoning application for 40480 Tantalus Road and to consult with the community on potential uses or amenities within the park. The proposal is to build 3 mixed-use buildings on the 15-acre site.”

Here are the details about the proposed three buildings:

Building 1: (between Tantalus Rd and Highway 99) is proposed as Phase 1 of a proposed 3-phase project. Building one comprises 104 rental apartments, one-acre park, and a pedestrian connection between the corridor trail and Tantalus Road.

Building 2 and 3 are proposed to have 200 condos and will have 34,510 square feet of commercial space, a day care, and a large nature reserve on the east half of the property. “The overall vision is to create an active community hub that includes a mix of rental homes and condos, a public park, commercial spaces with generous outdoor areas, a pedestrian corridor running east-west through all 3 buildings,” the developers say.

The meeting is being held in compliance with DOS policy. The details of the application and proposed development will be presented and input received from the community. The applicant can be reached at 604-614-4295 or by email at tantalusvillage@gmail.com. This is not a public hearing and the application will come before council at a later date.
