Snowfall warning in effect for Squamish

staff report
February 27, 2024 10:31am

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Squamish.

Heavy snowfall with total accumulations of 15 to 20 cm from late this afternoon to Wednesday afternoon is in the forecast for Squamish.

A wintry mix of wet snow will morph into heavy snow by the evening. With a warming southwesterly flow, however, the snow will transition to rain late Wednesday morning.  Drivers and pedestrians should be cautious as visibility may suddenly be reduced in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. The agency cautions to be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
