Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver.
A frontal system is set to bring heavy rainfall to parts of Metro Vancouver, notably the North Shore and northeast areas. The rain, at times heavy, is expected to persist throughout today and tonight, with anticipated rainfall amounts reaching up to 50 mm by Wednesday morning. The heavy downpours could lead to flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Residents are advised to stay vigilant and monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. In the event of severe weather, individuals can report incidents by emailing BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweeting using the hashtag #BCStorm.
The areas affected by this effect include Metro Vancouver—North Shore, which encompasses West Vancouver and North Vancouver, and Metro Vancouver—Northeast, which covers Coquitlam and Maple Ridge.
A special weather statement is also in effect for Coquihalla Highway. Snowfall of 2 to 4 cm, with locally higher amounts, is possible, which may affect transportation routes. Travellers should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
