The Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association (DSBIA) will host the second annual Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Squamish Together: A Celebration of community at Junction Park on Monday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The community-focused outdoor event will feature live music, food and beverage, cultural performances and the X̱ex̱e7énaḵ Creators Together Market along Cleveland Avenue in Downtown Squamish. “Community, diversity and inclusion are at the core of this event, and when we come together, we all feel an incredible sense of connection and pride,” says DSBIA Executive Director Kerry Neil.
“Our community is not complete without all of its members and the stories they carry to shape and enrich the culture of where we live. We connect through music, food, dance, togetherness. We look forward to celebrating the culture of Squamish in the heart of our Downtown.”
Musical guests will include Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Úxwumixw Nation Welhtima Kexwusem song and dance group and local bands Bluesberry Jam and Ant Hill Kids. The full lineup will be announced in June. Food trucks will serve a variety of menu items, and a craft beer garden will be open to those 19+. In addition to entertainment, the event will include a kids’ zone, community meet-and-greets and a X̱ex̱e7énaḵCreators Together Market.
Squamish-based artists and makers are invited to apply for vendor space through June 15 at downtownsquamish.com/apply/ Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Squamish Together has been designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind and is free for everyone to attend. The public is encouraged to use transit or active transportation. A bike valet will be provided. Volunteers are needed for help in all event areas.
