BC Transit and the District of Squamish have announced a seasonal service change that will take effect on June 10, 2024.

The highlight of this change is the return of Route 5 South Parks, which will once again connect various local areas to downtown Squamish. In an exciting development this year, Route 5 South Parks will extend its service to include Sp’akw’us Feather Park and the Oceanfront area of Squamish on select trips.

Additionally, to encourage public transit use during the summer months, free service will be available on all routes every Saturday, Sunday, and statutory holiday from June 10 until September 2, 2024. Transit users are encouraged to visit BC Transit’s Squamish page for detailed information on trip planning and fares and to sign up for customer alerts.

BC Transit once again offers the popular GradPASS program for graduating high school students. Schools in nearly 70 communities across British Columbia participate in the GradPASS program, which allows Grade 12 students to ride the bus for free any two days during June. The program aims to help students consider all transportation options when planning a safe ride home at graduation time.

To use a GradPASS, students scratch off their two chosen travel days, which do not have to be consecutive. When boarding the bus, they present the card and a valid student ID to the driver.

Participating schools will hand out GradPASS cards to students in late May. You can find more information about the GradPASS program here.
