Three climbers missing from Garibaldi Park

staff report
June 2, 2024 5:50pm

Three mountain climbers are reported overdue after failing to return from a climb in Garibaldi Park on May 31.

The Squamish RCMP and Squamish Search and Rescue teams have launched an extensive search operation to locate the missing climbers. However, their efforts have been significantly hindered by severe weather conditions. Heavy rain and strong winds have made the search difficult and created extreme avalanche risks in the area, further complicating the rescue mission.

Despite these challenges, rescue personnel remain dedicated to finding the climbers.

No further information has been released regarding the identities of the missing climbers or the specifics of their planned route in Garibaldi Park. Authorities are urging the public to stay clear of the area to allow search and rescue teams to work efficiently. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
