The District of Squamish has received requests for variances on two major developments in the community.

The District has received an application for the North Phase of the Redbridge project. The proposal includes 102 apartment units and 16 townhome units within three separate buildings attached by a continuous underground parkade.

The project seeks two variances: 1. Reduce the side setback from 6 metres to 2.7 metres to accommodate a larger waste room. 2. Increase the allowed height from 4 to 5 storeys on a portion of a building to support an enclosed rooftop amenity space. The height of the amenity space would still be within the 26-metre height allowance.

The District of Squamish also requests a Development Variance Application from Polygon as the company continues to work on their Garibaldi Springs townhome project.

The proposal seeks to vary the maximum building height from 10.68 metres to 13.29 metres for Buildings 30 to 38 in Phase 2 of the Garibaldi Springs master plan. According to the applicant, the proposed height increase accommodates flood construction levels for buildings in the flood hazard area.

The District is also working on a Temporary Use Permit application to construct 222 square feet of display suite building on a portion of the SEAandSKY property. The proposed display suite will be between the existing Discovery Centre and the parking lot.
