A  GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the daughters of Darcia Dahl, a local Squamish mother and healer who passed away this week after a courageous three years-long battle with breast cancer. Friends and family are raising funds to secure the family’s home and create a trust for her two young daughters.

Dahl, a local acupuncturist, was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago and underwent a double mastectomy and extensive treatments. Earlier this year, Dahl’s health showed improvement, allowing her to briefly resume her acupuncture practice and spend time with her daughters.

However, a sudden recurrence of cancer in May led to a terminal diagnosis. Despite aggressive treatments, the cancer spread rapidly.

Dahl continued to focus on her family, taking her daughters on their cherished annual ranch trip this September. A horseback riding accident revealed further complications, including a broken pelvis and infections that led to prolonged time at Squamish General Hospital.

Now, friends and family are rallying to secure Dahl’s last wishes for her daughters’ future, to pay off the $168,000 mortgage on their longtime home and establish a trust fund. The community is encouraged to contribute to maintaining stability for the girls and honouring Dahl’s memory.

“The current support team will be in charge of the trust for the girls. Any donations or shares of this GoFundMe would be greatly appreciated,” said organizer Kristina Clark.
