Eastern Canada’s most beloved ice cream shop and dairy has opened its first location outside Ontario in Britannia Beach.

The store softly opened on April 10th inside the restored 70-year-old Britannia Mine community church building. Open 7 days a week from noon to 8 pm, it will offer 35 flavours of ice cream along with milkshakes.

Kawartha Dairy was founded by the Crowe family in 1937. It remains family-owned and operated by the same family that started it in a small town between two lakes in central Ontario. Kawartha Dairy has 13 retail locations in Ontario and sells its famous ice cream through partner scoop shops and local grocery stores across Western Canada.

“Every scoop of its rich and creamy premium ice cream is still made the traditional way, using 100% Canadian fresh milk and fresh cream from Canadian farms. It is then turned into ice cream about a day after being delivered,” the dairy said in a press release.

Kawartha Dairy has something for everyone with a range of gluten-free, reduced sugar, and lactose-free ice creams as well as dairy-free sorbets, it added. “We’re so thrilled to open our Britannia Beach shop,” said Mike Crowe, 3rd generation owner of Kawartha Dairy. “We fell in love with the location the minute we saw it and are excited to make great family memories with Western Canadians.”
