The Squamish wildfire is now classified as Being Held by the BC Wildfire Service. This means the fire—currently mapped at 59.5 hectares—is not expected to spread beyond its current perimeter under existing conditions and available resources.
Cooler weather has helped stabilize the fire, and crews remain on the ground reinforcing containment lines, district said in the latest update. Evacuation alerts for properties near the fire remain in place and will be reassessed on Sunday, June 15. District said no residents have been evacuated.
Firefighting efforts will continue in the weeks ahead, and a State of Local Emergency remains in effect.
Closures and ongoing safety measures:
Alice Lake Provincial Park remains closed. Recreation trails near the fire perimeter are also closed to all users.
Smoke may affect visibility on Highway 99.
Falling trees, debris, and rocks remain a hazard in burned areas.
A campfire ban issued by the District and Squamish Nation remains in effect.
Drone use is prohibited within 9.3 km of a wildfire by federal law.
Residents are asked to conserve water. Do not run sprinklers unless directed by fire crews.
