Police are investigating two separate incidents in which groups of men tried to start fires in public areas of the Resort Municipality of Whistler last week.

The first report came in on June 19, 2025, just after 8 p.m., when three males were seen gathered around a fire in the gravel pit off Lorimer Road. The second occurred on June 20, 2025, about 7:30 p.m., in the 4100-block of Golfer’s Approach, where another trio was observed attempting to ignite a blaze.

Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP are asking anyone who was near the Lorimer Road gravel pit on June 19 around 8 p.m., or in the Golfer’s Approach area on June 20 around 7:30 p.m., to phone investigators at 604-932-3044.

Police have released a photograph of three “individuals of interest” seen on Golfer’s Approach on June 20.

“Lighting fires at this time of year, in public areas and without permits or proper precautions, poses a grave risk to the Whistler community,” Corporal Katrina Boehmer said.

Descriptions of the three individuals:

Person 1 — blue short-sleeve T-shirt with “CREW 2024” in white on the back, black shorts, dark running shoes, dark socks.
Person 2 — black jacket, black pants, black shoes, tan toque, carrying a black backpack with grey straps.
Person 3 — orange hooded jacket, grey pants, running shoes with orange soles, carrying a black backpack.

Information can also be reported anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
