Squamish RCMP were called to the scene on the evening of July 31, 2025, after receiving a report of the fall. Squamish Search and Rescue (SAR) crews responded and found the individual, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to difficult terrain and fading light, crews were unable to recover the hiker’s body until the following morning, August 1.

Police say there is no indication of foul play. The BC Coroners Service is now investigating to determine the cause of death.

“We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time,” said Cst. Kelly Wu is, spokesperson for the Sea to Sky RCMP in Squamish. “We would like to thank Squamish SAR for their dedication and efforts at this tragic event.”

No further details about the deceased will be released out of respect for the family.
