A new driving school has opened in the Sea-to-Sky region, offering ICBC-approved driver training under the province’s Graduated Licensing Program (GLP). Sea to Sky Driving Academy officially launched this month through a partnership with DriveWise Victoria, one of British Columbia’s most established driver-education providers.

According to a press release from the academy, the new program will deliver structured driver education to help new drivers build skills safely and confidently. The ICBC-designed GLP system guides learners through three stages — Learner (L), Novice (N), and Class 5 — ensuring a gradual, supervised driving experience before obtaining a full licence.

Students who complete a GLP-approved course may be eligible for key benefits, including the possibility of reducing their N stage from 24 months to 18 months and qualifying for potential insurance discounts. The training emphasizes defensive driving, hazard awareness, and safe decision-making — skills that ICBC data show reduce collision risks among new drivers.

Through its partnership with DriveWise Victoria, Sea to Sky Driving Academy will now offer local access to an established curriculum recognized across the province. Courses include in-vehicle instruction with certified instructors, classroom and online theory lessons, and specialized programs for youth, newcomers, and those preparing for their road tests.

“Our mission is to help create safer, more confident drivers in our community,” the founders said in the release. “Partnering with DriveWise Victoria allows us to deliver a proven, ICBC-recognized GLP curriculum right here in the Sea-to-Sky region.”

Registration for upcoming sessions is now open. More information is available at www.seatoskydrivingacademy.ca or by contacting 604-849-0130 or emailing ravi@seatoskydrivingacademy.ca.
