A Whistler resident is $500,000 richer after splitting a Maxmillion prize in the December 23, 2025, Lotto Max draw with another player in Quebec. Cornelio G. said his hands were “shaking” when he first realized he had won.
“I used a self-scanner, then called my son to confirm if it was a comma or period,” he recalled. “He said it was $500,000.00!”
After confirming the amount, Cornelio shared the news with his son and hugged him. The winning ticket was purchased at Otter Co-op on Lake Placid Road in Whistler. Cornelio said he plans to use the money to pay off his mortgage and build a home in the Philippines.
On how it feels to win, he put it simply: “So happy. Really happy.” In 2025, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $248 million from Lotto Max.
