A Lillooet couple is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after scoring $2.5 million in the Jan. 31, 2026, Lotto 6/49 draw. Rene L. and Brittany C. discovered they were multi-millionaires upon checking PlayNow.com. The couple matched all six numbers and split the $5-million Classic Jackpot with another ticket purchased in Quebec.
“My first thought was, ‘No!’ and then I jumped up and showed Brittany,” recalled Rene. “Brittany thought I was playing a trick on her and wanted to go to the store to check if it was real.”
The couple took their ticket to Pharmasave on Main Street in Lillooet — where they had originally purchased it — to verify the win. According to the press release, reality finally began to sink in for Brittany after the verification.
“It feels unreal,” Brittany said about winning such a substantial prize.
The couple has shared the exciting news with close family members and friends and celebrated with a dinner together. Rene and Brittany have immediate plans to pay off their current mortgage and begin house hunting for their next dream home.
“We can enjoy life and spend more time with our kids,” said Brittany, highlighting that financial freedom is what they are most looking forward to.
B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $71 million in Lotto 6/49 winnings in 2025, according to BCLC. The Classic Jackpot offers a prize of $5 million, while the Gold Ball Draw guarantees either $1 million or a growing jackpot that starts at $10 million.
