Cameron Chalmers is ‘No Longer Employed With the District’

Squamish General Manager of Community Services, Cameron Chalmers, is no longer working for District of Squamish, effective today.

“Mr. Chalmers is no longer employed with the district,” the communication manager, Christie Smith, told the Reporter.

She refused to explain the circumstances of his departure.

She said his departure from the district was a personnel issue, and could not be discussed.

“We are thankful for his long service to the district,” she added.

Cameron Chalmers worked for the district for ten years, most recently as the GM of Community Services.

This will be the second senior official to leave the district in a week after Kevin Ramsay resigned to join Port Moody as a city manager.

It wasn’t clear if Chalmers has resigned or he was fired, although sources say the planning department had come under fire for poor core service and Squamish Service Initiative reviews.

Keep tuned for more on this story.

I understand that there were five general managers at the District and now, with reorganization, there are four, Cameron Chalmers being the one who has gone. Who are the others and what do they do?
