The Stan Clarke Park in downtown Squamish is now open to the public.

A grand opening event is being planned for Saturday, November 3rd from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Second Avenue across from Municipal Hall.

An official opening ceremony and ribbon cutting will take place at 11:30 a.m. followed by some warm treats, and family-friendly activities

District hopes to see the community there, said district spokesperson Christina Moore.

District officials have also given the green light for sports teams to play on the new synthetic turf field this weekend.

The Squamish Youth Soccer Association will be the first group to use the field for this weekend’s Cup games.

The district would like to stress that this is a “soft opening”, because certain infrastructure like the new goal posts, bleachers and benches are not yet in place.

Knowing how much excitement there is to play on the field though, it has been made a priority to open it up and get the community playing on it, Moore said.

An official grand opening event will be planned once the infrastructure is in place.

Looking forward to using this park. It looks very attractive, safe for children and restful for folks who just want to sit and enjoy being outdoors.
