Chris Bishop, the District of Squamish director of development services, has accepted a new position with the District of West Vancouver as manager of development planning.

Bishop has been hired to build and manage a newly formed team spearheading development planning in West Vancouver, said district spokesperson, Christina Moore.

Bishop joined the District of Squamish in the fall of 2006 as a planner and worked his way to become a manager and then a director of planning.

Before joining Squamish, he worked for the Resort Municipality of Whistler for 11 years.

“This move to West Vancouver is exciting but at the same time bittersweet as I have fond memories of my time here (in Squamish),” Bishop said.

Current Acting Director of Planning Sarah McJannet will continue to oversee the Squamish department as the district looks for a new director.
