On Tuesday, February 27, Squamish RCMP were notified of man who was running around in several different backyards in the area of Highlands Way North. The man attempted to open several doors and turn on water hoses, the police said.
The male was able to be identified due to the descriptions of location and clothing by the public. Police located him a short distance away and he was arrested by police.
On Sunday, March 4, Squamish RCMP were also alerted to an injured individual at the hospital suffering from burns. Upon investigation police learned a group of individuals were having a bonfire in Brackendale when a male at the party alleged poured gasoline on the fire.
The action caused a fireball to hit several people beside the fire causing burn injuries. Police continue to investigate this incident and charges are pending.
Squamish RCMP also received a complaint regarding a theft from a vehicle parked at The Stawamus Chief parking lot.
The complainant stated their vehicle was parked in the mid level parking lot a few days prior and several items were taken, including: skis, backcountry gear, and electronics.
