On Friday, April 20, at approximately 4 p.m. Squamish RCMP were notified by Squamish Animal Control of two dogs in distress in a vehicle. A veterinarian attended to assist with the dogs which were removed from the vehicle. The owner was issued multiple bylaw tickets.
Squamish RCMP would like to remind the public to leave their pets at home during warm weather. Vehicle temperatures rise quickly in warm sunny weather even with windows open and pets can go into distress quickly.

CRA SCAM HITS SQUAMISH AGAIN
On Monday, April 16th, Squamish RCMP were notified of a Squamish resident who believed she was defrauded by a telephone scam. The complainant stated she received a call from Canada Revenue Agency and they stated they would get a warrant for her arrest if she didn’t pay a sum of money via iTunes gift cards.
The victim bought the cards and provided the numbers to the scammers. Squamish RCMP have received a large number of complaints about these type of scams where callers request payment via BitCoin, Steam cards, iTunes Cards, etc. RCMP wants to inform the public that CRA does not solicit payment via these methods. SUSPICIOUS FIRE IN LIONS BAY
On Monday, April 16th, Lions Bay Fire Department contacted the Squamish RCMP due to a suspicious fire they attended under the M Creek Bridge on Highway 99. Members attended and found there were two locations which had been lit on fire. The first was an area of what appeared to be burnt remnants of tires and other debris, a tree also caught on fire and the burn marks went up 80 feet. The second location was a door to a Honeywell Safe and bolt cutters, the rest of the safe was located 40 feet down an embankment.
SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOUR LEADS TO ARREST AND DRUG SEIZURE
On Friday, April 20th, Squamish RCMP received a report from a concerned Squamish resident regarding a female who was acting “strangely” on Cleveland Avenue.
Members attended and located the female who was arrested for an outstanding warrant and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The female was released from custody with a court appearance for May 2018.
