Police looking for couple who used counterfeit currency in Squamish

May 6, 2018 8:49am

Police are looking for a couple who used counterfeit currency with a local business. On Wednesday, May 2nd, Squamish RCMP received a report from a local business in Squamish regarding suspicious looking money that someone had used to make a purchase.

The complainant believed the money to be Canadian counterfeit currency.  Police attended and obtained a description of the couple believed to have passed the currency.

Police are looking for a male and female, between 20-30 years old, Caucasian, and driving an older model white Ford Escape.

Squamish RCMP receives a number of these types of calls throughout the year and all businesses are requested to call the police when they believe counterfeit currency has been used.

Anyone with any information regarding the above files are asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100 or contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, text 274637, or go to www.solvecrime.ca.

Meanwhile, tips to identify counterfeit bills can be obtained from the following website www.bankofcanada.ca/banknotes/counterfeit-prevention

You can also enquire more from the local police at their open house on May 12.
