Police are seeking more information about the theft of high end mountain bikes in the North Yards area.
On Sunday, June 3, at approximately 8 am, Squamish RCMP were notified of a Break and Enter to a garage in the 40000 block of Government Road. The complainant stated his garage was broken into over night and his 3 mountain bikes had been taken.
The bikes were as follows: Black & Grey Knolley Warden with Orange Witting, Black & Red Rocky Mountain Altitude with black rims and pedals, and Dark Green Liv Hail 2 with purple pedals.
SHOTS FIRED ON SHANNON CREEK FSR
On Saturday, June 2nd, at 1 pm Squamish RCMP responded to a call for shots fired on the Shannon Creek FSR. Members attended and located two men from Vancouver. They had four rifles of which they were firing in an area they weren’t allowed to. They were issues Violation Tickets for Discharge of a Firearm in a No Shooting Area under the Wildlife Act which is a $345 fine.
ROCK SLIDE IN LIONS BAY
On Thursday, May 31, Squamish RCMP received a report regarding a group of small boulders on Highway 99 northbound by Lions Bay. Squamish RCMP and West Vancouver Police attended and cleared the debris off the road. Unfortunately a driver was located up the road with a shredded tire from running over a boulder. Large rocks on Highway 99 is not an uncommon occurrence and even small boulders can seriously damage a vehicle, police say. If you see boulders please report these to police or Miller Capilano.
SPIKES AND A SMALL FIRE ON RAIL TRACKS
On Friday, June 1, around 3:50 am, Squamish RCMP received a report from a CN Rail employee about railway spikes on the tracks near Bowen Avenue in Squamish. As police were searching the area, a smouldering fire was located next to the tracks. Police were unsure if the incidents were connected but expressed concern for the safety of the trains coming through the community as well as those around the tracks.
COMPUTER PROGRAM POP UPS LEAD TO FRAUD INVESTIGATION
On Thursday, May 31st, the Squamish RCMP received a report of a fraudulent scam. The complainant stated they were on their computer and a pop up came up stating their computer had been compromised and needed assessing and updating. The victim paid the $250 fee and then became concerned about the transaction and reported it to police. A second complaint with similar circumstances was reported to the Squamish RCMP the next day.
